Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne says he’d be proud to be the football club’s new captain. But if it’s not, there’s no problem.

Pep Guardiola has yet to announce a new captaincy to take over from German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who leaves for Barcelona this summer.

De Bruyne, who has at the club since 2015 is among the candidates for the new leadership role. But he is not worried about whether he will be selected for this important role or not.

The 32-year-old, who is currently the team’s vice-captain. said: “Nothing yet. If I’m elected, I’m elected. It won’t change anything.” UFABET

“My ninth year here. I know the club very well. I’m not worried I tried the same as before. It would be an honor to be selected. But if not, there’s no problem.”

De Bruyne, who recently recover from a hamstring injury sustained in the Champions League final, made his first appearance for the club in Sunday’s Community Shield defeat to Arsenal past.

“If I can be, then I can be, it won’t change anything I do for the club,” De Bruyne said.

“This is my ninth year with the club. I know the club inside and out. If they ask me for anything, I will do it.”
